Brace yourself… winter is coming! Can your teen driver handle it?
Winter will be here before we know it, so make sure your teen is prepared to drive in rain and snow. Incidents of hydroplaning and skidding are likely to happen during wet weather and it’s ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry. Here are a few basic tips that are important to keep in mind:
-Allow plenty of space between you and the rest of the vehicles on the road.
-Slow down! Being late for your destination is always more favorable than causing an accident.
-If your vehicle begins skidding, you must go against your knee-jerk reaction. Remember to turn into the skid.
-If you start hydroplaning, gently let your foot off the accelerator. Steer straight ahead and remain calm until you regain control.
It is best to practice with your teen in a traffic-free area. If you have the opportunity, go over these techniques in an empty parking lot. Remember to schedule a service appointment at Morehead Honda before the cold weather begins to ensure your Honda is in tip-top shape.

5 Things to Keep in Mind After a Fender-Bender
Nobody ever wants or expects them, but car accidents happen
every day. If you suddenly find yourself
involved in a fender-bender, the stress of the situation can jumble your
thoughts, making you more likely to forget some important steps. Here are a few things to keep in mind right
after a car accident.
-Make sure everyone is okay before you exchange contact and insurance
information with the other motorist involved.
-Report the incident to your insurance company, even if you
are at fault.
-Take pictures. Not
only will this proof help when sorting things out with an insurance company,
but it could serve as useful if there happens to be a dispute about the
situation. Taking notes is a good idea,
too.
-Be careful who you talk to.
If you are contacted by the other motorist’s insurance company, it is
best to direct them to your insurance company instead of speaking for yourself. Sensitive situations like car accidents are
best left to professionals!
-If there is a dispute with your insurance company, get an
attorney.

Preserve Your Car During Long-Term Storage
Going on a road trip? Extended vacation? Whatever the reason, here are a few good tips on how to preserve your car during long-term storage. If you are not going to use your car for more than a month, store it
properly to prevent unnecessary damage and repairs upon your return. No one wants to deal with problems when they return from an extended trip. What's the fun in that? Here a few good tips to remember:

- Fill the gas tank to help prevent condensation from accumulating in the gas tank. Add a fuel stabilizer and drive the car around a bit to distribute the additive to engine parts.
- Wash and wax the car thoroughly to protect the finish.
- Place a vapor barrier on your garage floor. A 4-mil polyethylene drop cloth will do.
- Disengage the parking brake to help avoid brake corrosion.
- Put the car on jack stands to take the weight of the vehicle off the wheels and tires.
- Disconnect and remove the battery to keep it from draining. Place the battery on a trickletype charger. Or periodically drain the battery, using a small light bulb, and then recharge it with a low-volt charger.
- Plug the tailpipe with a rag to prevent moist air from infiltrating into it.
