Brace yourself… winter is coming! Can your teen driver handle it?
Winter will be here before we know it, so make sure your teen is prepared to drive in rain and snow. Incidents of hydroplaning and skidding are likely to happen during wet weather and it’s ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry. Here are a few basic tips that are important to keep in mind:
-Allow plenty of space between you and the rest of the vehicles on the road.
-Slow down! Being late for your destination is always more favorable than causing an accident.
-If your vehicle begins skidding, you must go against your knee-jerk reaction. Remember to turn into the skid.
-If you start hydroplaning, gently let your foot off the accelerator. Steer straight ahead and remain calm until you regain control.
It is best to practice with your teen in a traffic-free area. If you have the opportunity, go over these techniques in an empty parking lot. Remember to schedule a service appointment at Morehead Honda before the cold weather begins to ensure your Honda is in tip-top shape.
